The Canadian Memorial United Church and Center for Peace ...and the Dances of Universal Peace Team in Vancouver are thrilled to announce a Dances of Universal Peace celebration:
"Finding Peace"
The gathering will be fed by noted international
Dances of Universal Peace eader, Shivadam, from Arizona
The Dances of Universal Peace are a spiritual practice in motion. Drawing on the sacred phrases, scripture and poetry of the many spiritual traditions of the earth, the Dances blend chant, live music and movement into a living experience of unity, peace and integration. This practice benefits not only ourselves, but benefits all sentient beings and brings more peace into the world.
Shivadam is a certified Dance leader, mentor and a representative of the Sufi Ruhaniat He has led Dances of Universal Peace since 2007, in circles and events around the world. Shivadam leads kirtan and zikr, combining decades of music, spiritual practice and travels into his leadership style. He is proficient in reading, writing, and speaking Hindi and Sanskrit, is a visual artist, likes to write and to repair musical instruments.
Being asked about the role that the Dances of Universal Peace has played in his life, Shivadam responds, "Discovering the Dances and Sufism (around 1996), I felt I had found both a path of practice and an opportunity to serve others. I feel so grateful that the skills I acquired, during my time as a Dance leader and mentor, can be brought into service with the beautiful work of the Dances of Universal Peace.
