About this Event
Finding a Way Forward for the Town Building Department
In early March, East Hampton town officials suspended enforcement of a recent law that requires homeowners to get an updated certificate of occupancy before selling their home. It was the most recent change at the East Hampton Town Building Department intended to boost efficiency and shepherd land use applications through an office that has faced turnover and a mounting backlog. All this as the town has heralded zoning code changes designed to reduce home sizes in the face of ever increasing development pressures. The conversation will ask how the town is dealing with a “perfect storm” in the department, and how developers are meeting the daily challenges of getting their projects approved.
