A „klasszikus” jelzőt csak a legidőtállóbb filmek érdemlik ki, amelyek évszámtól függetlenül bármikor képesek megszólítani a mozirajongókat. A szeptemberben már 8. alkalommal megrendezett Budapesti Klasszikusfilm-maratonon ilyen különleges külföldi és magyar alkotások kerülnek fókuszba eredeti pompájukban, felújítva. A Müpában már két nappal a fesztivál előtt izgalmas formában kaphatunk ízelítőt a kortalan kedvencekből. Az egész napos programsorozat nyitányaként a legfiatalabb – és a lélekben fiatal – filmkedvelők a legendás Mekk Eleket jegyző Imre István három bábfilmjét élvezhetik Ránki György és Kurtág György zenéjével az Előadóteremben, majd Dargay Attila Szaffija csal mosolyt az arcokra.A nap második felében nem mindennapi filmkoncertek várják a közönséget. Korda Sándor Az aranyember című 1918-as némafilmjéhez Farkas Bence komponált új, díjnyertes aláfestő zenét, amit a Győri Filharmonikus Zenekar Dubóczky Gergely vezényletével prezentál a Fesztivál Színházban. A záróvetítésen pedig a filmtörténet leghíresebb mozdonya elevenedik meg a Bartók Béla Nemzeti Hangversenyteremben Buster Keaton főszereplésével: a Budafoki Dohnányi Zenekart az új kompozíciót szerző Szüts Apor dirigálja. Mindkét koncert előtt rövid beszélgetés ágyaz meg az élménynek a zeneszerzők és filmes szakértők közreműködésével.
A rendezvény a Budapesti Klasszikus Film Maratont szervező Nemzeti Filmintézet támogatásával valósul meg.

The label “classic” is reserved only for the most timeless films, which can captivate movie lovers at any time, regardless of the year they were made. The Budapest Classics Film Marathon, held this September for the 8th time, brings such special international and Hungarian works into focus, restored to their original splendor. Two days before the festival begins, Müpa offers a thrilling preview of these ageless favorites.
The day-long program opens with screenings designed for the youngest – and the young at heart – film fans: three puppet films by István Imre, the creator of the legendary Mekk Elek, accompanied by music from György Ránki and György Kurtág in the Auditorium, followed by Attila Dargay’s Szaffi, guaranteed to bring smiles to the audience.
In the afternoon, extraordinary film concerts await visitors. For Sándor Korda’s 1918 silent film The Man of Gold, Bence Farkas has composed a new, award-winning score, performed by the Győr Philharmonic Orchestra under the baton of Gergely Dubóczky in the Festival Theatre. The closing screening takes place in the Béla Bartók National Concert Hall, where the most famous locomotive in film history comes to life with Buster Keaton in the lead role: the Budafok Dohnányi Orchestra will be conducted by Apor Szüts, the composer of the new score. Before both concerts, short conversations with the composers and film experts will set the stage for the experience.
The event is realized with the support of the National Film Institute, organizer of the Budapest Classics Film Marathon.
