Salida Creativity Lab is proud to present FILIPINO MODERN featuring a one of a kind music concert with MONEY MARK aka the 4th Beastie Boy and DJ JESTER THE FILIPINO FIST! Enjoy a unique presentation of sounds and samplings with found objects, keyboard, mixes, melodies and a little bit of history thrown in! Then let loose as MM and DJ Jester transform the room into a fun & funky dance party Filipino style.
Money Mark, Mark Ramos Nishita, is a composer, musician, inventor and American music producer working professionally since 1975 creating tracks for top artists globally and is credited with several top tens and number ones on the Billboard charts in several categories. MM is the unofficial ‘Fourth Beastie Boy’ since 1992 and has written/performed and recorded with other luminaries such as David Byrne, Karen O, Jack White, Atarashii Gakko!, Miley Cyrus, Conan Gray, Yoko Ono, Beck, MF Doom, De La Soul and too many more to name. Current projects include high experimentation using unconventional techniques to create new music. Mark brings his musicality and expertise to Salida in performance and chat.
Native Texan DJ Jester the Filipino Fist and longtime official performer at SXSW, and curator of the SXSW closing party at the og Emo's for many years. Having toured as the DJ for cult rap group GRAND BUFFET and with acts like Kid Koala, MGMT, of Montreal, Joe Jack Talcum of the Dead Milkmen and even Third Eye Blind with a sound like Texas: hot, spicy, and eclectic. In 2020, Dolly Parton herself chose DJ Jester's version of the "Jolene Challenge" to be featured on a Netflix commercial to promote her film. In 2022, Jester also achieved a childhood dream and performed a Weird Al Tribute Set for Weird Al (and cast and crew) at the USA premiere of WEIRD: THE AL YANKOVIC STORY in New York. In 2023 he was nominated for BEST DJ in the Austin Chronicle Music Awards, opened for William Shatner’s keynote address at SXSW, was invited to New York to DJ the opening for Wes Anderson’s ASTEROID CITY and released his children’s mix DJ JESTER IS FOR THE CHILDREN. In 2024 he continued to play in Austin and abroad with gigs in Canada and Mexico. Jester released LIVE AT THE WHITE RABBIT in 2025. Jester has also played Fantastic Fest, the largest genre film festival in the US multiple times. Catch DJ Jester with Money Mark in Salida!
