Enjoy an inspiring and insighful evening at FILIPINO MODERN. Start with the Symposium in the Theater and hear about art and perspectives from renowned artists culminating in an exciting fashion show. The speaker line up includes community artist Tina Gramann, photographer Julius Garrido, visual artist Gene Pendon, stylist Shiela DeForest and more.
Then guests head over to the Ballroom for a very special KAMAYAN FEAST dinner served by Chef Katie Fisco of BAON SUPPER CLUB: "Baon" is a Tagalog word meaning "food for the journey." Bringing a contemporary touch to Filipino cuisine, an intimate and immersive dining experience with that special touch of Filipino hospitality featuring a bespoke, multiple course Kamayan style dinner, a traditional feast served on banana leaves. Chef Katie will introduce the dishes, and explain the story behind "boodle fight." Menu includes traditional yet elevated Filipino cuisine such as ULAM of Lechon Kawali, BBQ Shrimp, Chicken Skewers, Pork Lumpia; GULAY of Roasted eggplant, Swiss Chard Laing, Atchara, and more with SASAWAN of Black garlic & vinegar, sweet green chili, house "Aling Tomasina", Salted duck egg Salsa, and MATAMIS of Seasonal fruits and Bibinka and a few more surprises. Hosted bar with beverages and dessert that compliments. Dietary restrictions or allergies can be accomodated for with alternative menu. Please inform coordinator in advance.
Then after dinner, get ready for a fun and innovative concert as the Ballroom transforms into a concert venue as Money Mark aka the 4th Beastie Boy & DJ Jester of SXSW Fame get ready to entertain. Expect samples, found objects, and ingenutity as they take you on an insightful road of sound before settling into a night of funk and dance Filipino style.
