About this Event
FEAT is an outstanding opportunity for Kansas families, youth, and young adults with disabilities—and those who support them—as they plan for the journey to adulthood.
Please be aware that by registering, you are confirming for both dates March 28th and April 2nd!
Participants will:
- Hear from a panel of youth and young adults sharing their real-life employment stories
- Identify strengths, interests, and employment goals
- Learn how to work while maintaining needed benefits
- Connect with people and agencies that can help support employment success
- Leave with a plan for next steps, and contact information for individuals who can assist you in navigating disability and adult services in Kansas
The primary focus of FEAT is helping youth and families understand that employment is possible and building connections with people who can help make it happen. Participants will also explore post-secondary education options, independent living skills, and ways to build a strong support network.
Breakout sessions for youth will focus on goal setting, identifying strengths and passions, and planning next steps.
Attendees will hear from two panels:
- Youth and young adults sharing their lived experiences
- Agency representatives from Vocational Rehabilitation (VR), Pre-ETS, the Workforce Center, Centers for Independent Living, and a Benefits Specialist
Additional information:
- Childcare is not provided
- If a youth needs one-to-one support, families should bring someone who can assist them
- Families are encouraged to invite a teacher, case manager, family member, or another key support person to attend
