About this Event
This special 3 week series invites parent and child to learn the basics of food illustration together using watercolor and other mixed media in an intimate small group setting. We will illustrate different food themes each week while building up our skills and comfort with the materials, all of which are provided (including many items to take home and keep for further art making).
In this class, you will:
● Review basic watercolor techniques
● Learn how to observe and illustrate a variety of food items
● Practice painting food illustrations using real life objects as inspiration
● Learn how to use watercolor and other mediums to create texture and interest
● Explore different styles of painting with basic materials (the possibilities are endless!)
I look forward to exploring and creating delightful art together with you. Not only will you learn the basic skills to start your own food illustration journey, this will also be a fun way to start creating art together as a family. This class series is beginner friendly. Please note that the minimum age for this class is 9 years old.
Each ticket includes admission for one adult and one child between the ages of 9-18. A class kit is included as part of the ticket purchase for the students to use during the class series and to keep after the series ends. The class kit includes 1 full watercolor palette, brushes for each student, and a pad of watercolor paper. Students will be responsible for bringing their class kits to the workshop after receiving them. All items not included as part of the class kit will be provided by the instructor.
Series Schedule:
First session: Sunday, May 19th
Second session: Sunday, May 26th
Last session: Sunday, June 2nd
About Rona:
Rona Jin is an artist living in the Bay Area who focuses on food illustrations and works primarily with watercolor. In her free time, she loves to read nonfiction, eat Japanese snacks, and watch documentaries.
