DESCRIPTION

Join the Sankofa Institute for African American Pastoral Leadership and True Vine Church for a powerful Black History Month celebration honoring the enduring legacy of Black Americans during our nation’s 250th Anniversary.

This special gathering brings to life the remarkable story of the Buffalo Soldiers—men whose courage, discipline, and faith helped shape both the western frontier and the spiritual fabric of the United States. Through historical presentation and reflection, members of the Bexar County Buffalo Soldiers Association, along with Rev. Dr. W. Raymond Bryant, will explore how these soldiers were not only defenders of a nation, but also vital contributors to U.S. religious history, community formation, and moral leadership.

More than a history lesson, Faith and Frontier is an invitation to reflect on resilience, vocation, and the sacred threads of faith woven into America’s past. Attendees will gain a deeper appreciation for the role of Black Americans in shaping religious life, expanding the frontier, and bearing witness to hope amid adversity.

All are welcome to join us for this meaningful opportunity to remember, honor, and learn—celebrating faith, service, and legacy at the crossroads of history and belief.

The presentation is sponsored by Sankofa Institute for African American Pastoral Leadership.
