About this Event

A community-based, Therapeutically-Driven, Expressive Arts & Conscious Movement journey inviting free movement, creativity, and deep connection through music, writing prompts and an introduction to Internal Family Systems (IFS) Parts Work.

You are invited to join Registered Clinical Counsellor & Expressive Arts Therapist, Kai Bishop (they/them) and Open Format DJ, Hassti Hamidi (she/her), for a mindful gathering focused on attuning to a challenging part of yourself and beginning the process of unburdening and befriending that part, rather than pushing it away.

So, what are some examples of challenging parts? These could include anything from an inner critic or saboteur, to your inner child or teen, to an inner ableist or perfectionist. The list is long as we’re all made up of a myriad of parts.

What is Parts Work?
In essence, we have our capital ‘S’ self - the unmoving, unwavering, unshakeable Self. From here, we are made up of many parts. When they’re in harmony, we can access the Self easily alongside our parts. However, certain parts can begin presenting themselves at any age (usually as a form of protection) and can be challenging. They can take the drivers’ seat and run the show or we may try to push them away. In Parts Work we aim to witness and befriend these parts so they can begin to de-burden and return to their natural state to take on healthier, more collaborative, roles within our internal systems.

For this evening, Kai will blend psychoeducation with facilitation that offers prompts for writing and dance movement to Hassti’s curated music. It’s time to offer the Self and your challenging part a chance to meet and begin healing inner conflicts through expression.

What is an Expressive Arts and Conscious Movement Journey?

This Expressive Arts and Conscious Movement Journey is a gentle, guided experience that weaves together conscious movement and expressive arts as pathways for self-expression and inner exploration. Rather than following choreography or artistic rules, participants are invited to move, create, and express freely, allowing both movement and creative processes to emerge organically.

Through music, movement, and facilitated invitations, this practice supports authentic self-expression and embodied awareness. It offers a supportive space to slow down, release stress, and reconnect with the wisdom of the body, emotions, and imagination. No prior dance, Parts Work or art experience is needed — curiosity and openness are enough.
