About this Event
On Performance: ANTiPODE brings together Till the Teeth [an interdisciplinary art collective founded by Jonathan Rodriguez and Sandesh Nagaraj], and two Iranian musicians Rambod Dargahi and Kian Farahani for a live collaboration rooted in improvisation, tradition, and cross-cultural exchange.
This is a dynamic performance from cultural landscapes of the U.S.–Mexico border, southern India, and Iran, emphasizing on collective creation, active listening, and the shared energy of the moment.
On Artists:
- Rambod Dargahi, born and raised in Esfahan, Iran, Rambod Dargahi is a percussionist whose practice centers on the tonbak, the Persian goblet drum, alongside instruments including cajón, djembe, darbuka, udu, and bendir, blending traditional technique with responsive improvisation.
- Kian Farahani is a kamanche player with over 21 years of experience in Persian traditional music, trained in classical radif under Ali Akbar Shekarchi and Ardeshir Kamkar and a co-founder of the band Nova, bringing a deeply rooted yet exploratory melodic voice to the collaboration.
- Till the Teeth is an interdisciplinary art collective founded by Jonathan Rodriguez and Sandesh Nagaraj. They shape the performance through an improvisation-driven framework focused on listening, interaction, and resourcefulness, drawing from a rasquachismo approach that moves fluidly between music, performance art, and sound-based practice.
Join us to experience how the artists create a shared musical space, with rhythm and melody unfolding in real time. Stay afterwards to hang out and connect.
