About this Event
The Figure Within (2016-2026)
Exhibition Opening
Jonathan D. Wallace's newest paintings explore the movement within oneself — figures appearing and disappearing within charged environments, navigating consciousness, opening doors to deeper understanding. This body of work represents the artist's most focused engagement with the figure in his five-decade career.
The exhibition features recent paintings and etchings alongside selected works from Jonathan's broader catalog. The evening includes live music, a screening of the artist's documentary, and a talk by Jonathan tracing the figure in his work — from the empty chair that stood in for the human form in the 1980s, to the moment in 1992 when the figure painted itself back into the frame, to the luminous, transcendent works of today.
The evening will include a talk by the artist, Jonathan D. Wallace. Light refreshments will be provided.
