About this Event
We are honoured to welcome Professor Dr. Hassan Khalil to London for two exclusive workshops. His influence reaches from the Golden Age of Egyptian cinema to modern Oriental dance.
Why this is special:
Dr. Khalil is not just a teacher. He is a direct link to the lineage of Samia Gamal, Tahiya Carioca, Naima Akef, and the great choreographers who shaped the dance we know today. His work has been foundational for dancers, actors, and choreographers across Egypt and around the world.
His legacy includes:
* Former general director of the National Folklore Ensemble Kaomeya Troupe
* Director of the Oum Kalthoum Theater in Cairo
* Choreographer for Egyptian cinema, television, and theatre
* Mentor for generations of professional dancers
* Research supervisor at the Academy of Arts in Cairo
* Over 20 years as an international master instructor
This is a rare chance to learn from someone who lived, worked, and created within the true epicenters of Egyptian dance, from Golden Age glamour to modern technique.
WORKSHOP TOPICS
π Day 1: Modern Mejance
A complete mini routine blending dynamic entrances, taqassim, folkloric elements, and rhythmic shifts. Created in Dr. Khalilβs signature style to help dancers showcase full range, stage presence, and musicality.
π Day 2: Oum Kalthoum Tarab
Tarab is the emotional ecstasy created by music and poetry. In dance, it becomes a deep, expressive connection between movement and melody. With Oum Kalthoumβs music as the core of this tradition, Dr. Hassan Khalil will guide dancers in embodying its emotion with authenticity.
