Every Body Move

A unique and collaborative 3 hour workshop led by Shaya Ghadimi and Linde Wagemaker

Our facilitators have backgrounds in capoeira and contemporary dance and will co-lead the session to explore the full range of human movement. Asking the question of when movement becomes dance, and how conversations with partners and larger groups informs and changes our movement.

The workshop will contain 4 sections:

1. Physical preparation
2. Contemporary improvisational practice (guided)
3. Partnering with the elemental and mechanical
4. Group movement and composition

We will explore:

• Biomechanics and foundational movement patterns
• Quadrupedal movements and inversions
• Physical listening and relationality through partner exercises
• Capoeira-inspired partner dance
• Musicality in martial arts
• Solo introspection and expressive movement
• Group composition and guided improvisation
