🍅 As the fruit bowl of Aotearoa, we in Hawke's Bay are lucky to have trees dripping with citrus, feijoas, quinces and tomatoes — but let’s be honest, there is only so much fresh fruit you can eat! Instead of letting that goodness hit the grass or the kerb, why not bottle it? It is the best way to lock in that peak-season flavour and keep the "yum" going all year round.Sustainable HB is excited to bring Every Bite 2026, a four-week programme designed to help you become more food resourceful and reduce food waste across Aotearoa. By joining, you will gain the tools, resources and most importantly — the motivation to track and reduce your food waste. You will get plenty of practical tips, smart hacks, and tasty recipes to help you make the most of your kai. It’s simple, rewarding and will make a real difference to both your household waste and your grocery bill!
What to Expect:
📆 Kick-off Event | 30 April 2026 | The Food Basket CHB | $10 for one / $15 for 'bring a friend'
We are kicking off Every Bite at the home of The Food Basket CHB. These legends are experts in food rescue, making sure nutritious, local kai gets to everyone in our community, no exceptions. Because they handle so much seasonal abundance, they have mastered the art of turning a "glut" into "jars of gold." So at this special event, you will:
🔸Enjoy gourmet light meals made with fresh, organic produce, grown locally.
🔸Learn about Every Bite’s mission to reduce food waste and appreciate food more.
🔸Learn from Pam McKay as she shares her favourite tips and recipes for turning seasonal gluts into creative pantry goodies.

🔸Access to a private Facebook group for support, questions and sharing progress.
📆 Wrap-up Event | 28 May 2026 | The Food Basket CHB | Free
To celebrate your journey, we’ll gather again at The Food Basket CHB for a final kōrero, reflection, and another opportunity to savour the delicious kai together.
