What is a Sound Healing Journey?A healing sound journey - sometimes called a sound bath, is one of the oldest and most gentle forms of therapeutic healing. You do nothing but arrive, lie down, and let go. Our guest Ali Taylor from Rainbow Lotus Wellbeing will hold the space for you.
Using a carefully chosen collection of instruments -crystal singing bowls, Tibetan bowls, gongs, chimes, and the human voice - Ali creates layers of resonant sound that move through the body as much as they fill the air. There is no music to follow, no rhythm to keep. Only sound, breath, and the slow unravelling of whatever you've been carrying.
What to Expect
£35 per person
You'll be guided to a comfortable position on your mat -wrapped in blankets, supported by bolsters, an eye pillow resting over your face. The temperature is warm. The light is low.
As the session begins, the sounds build gradually, each tone overlapping and dissolving into the next. You may notice your thoughts quieten. Your breath deepening. A heaviness in your limbs that feels, somehow, like relief.
Some guests drift into a state between sleep and waking - what some describe as the most restful hour they've experienced in years. Others find emotions rising gently to the surface. Both are welcome. Both are part of it.
The session closes slowly and deliberately, leaving space before the world returns.
Held in the Wild
What makes our sound journeys unlike anything you'll find in a studio or spa is where they happen.
Our tipi sits within Maycroft's landscape - surrounded by open fields, the glen, and the unhurried rhythms of the countryside. Before a single bowl is struck, you are already held by something larger.
You may hear birdsong weaving through the music. The wind moving through the grass. The soft sounds of the horses in the fields beyond. Rain, if the sky decides - which somehow, in here, feels like a gift rather than an inconvenience.
These are not interruptions to the experience. They are part of it. Nature becomes a co-creator, layering her own frequencies beneath the bowls, reminding your body - before your mind catches up - that it already knows how to be still.
There is something profoundly settling about being held in a structure that breathes. Canvas and wooden poles. Earth beneath you. Sky above. The tipi has always been a place of gathering and of ceremony, and that intention lingers here.
You may wish to extend your experience with a with sauna and cool dip.
