We invite you to a unique Christmas concert! In December, a trio of musicians will visit Manchester and other British cities to take you on a musical journey across Europe. The group, consisting of a trumpet, accordion, and double bass, will play carols and Christmas songs from their homelands.
Three talented musicians who met in Prague have combined their experience to create a magical Christmas atmosphere.
Jan Matásek, a graduate of the Pardubice Conservatory and the Jaroslav Ježek Conservatory in Prague, performs on the trumpet and sings, but is primarily a renowned composer. He composes stage music for a number of Czech theatres, including the Dejvické Theater and the Minor Theater, where he has been working as a composer, musician, and actor since 2001. He is also the author of music for television series and ballets, most recently for the ballet "Geiko 芸妓," which premiered in May 2024. His works, including Requiem, have also premiered in Norway. As a lecturer, he leads seminars and workshops for children and adults.
Accordionist and singer Veronika Pozniak is a multi-talented artist who moves between music and theatre. Originally from Ukraine, where she co-founded the ethno band Yagody and was an actress at the Lesia Kurbasa Theatre in Lviv, she now lives in Prague. She graduated from DAMU, teaches singing, and connects Czech and Ukrainian culture in her projects.
Double bass player and singer Pavol Smolárik comes from Slovakia and is a highly respected actor and musician. He was nominated for the Thalia Award, co-founded the LETÍ Theatre and the musical theatre group Fekete Seretlek, and performs in leading Czech theatres, including the Prague City Theatres and the Dejvické Theatre. He is known for his versatility and rich experience across genres.
