March’s Women in Jazz Month vibrantly comes to life as acclaimed singer-songwriter Eugenie Jones’ Women in Jazz Month Tour hits the stage at San Francisco’s 1950s-inspired speakeasy, Mr. Tipple’s Jazz Club. The tour, with stops in San Francisco, Denver, Atlanta, and Seattle, joins March’s global celebration of women’s contributions to jazz and trailblazers like Billie Holiday, Nina Simone, and Ella Fitzgerald, who helped define the genre. In addition to San Francisco, the tour will stop in Atlanta, Denver, and Seattle.
Mr. Tipple’s cozy, dark, and intimate atmosphere of nightly jazz will set the scene for Jones’ blend of beloved songs from female jazz legends, her own Jazz Week #4-ranked originals, imaginative spins on vintage jazz, and timeless rhythm-and-blues classics. Jones will take the Dazzle stage with an all-woman powerhouse trio: Bennett Roth-Newell on piano, William Johnston Bohrer on bass, and John MacDonald on drums!
Jones, as a Seattle Jazz Hall of Fame inductee, the first vocal recording artist to receive Earshot Jazz’s Album of the Year award, a two-time Vocalist of the Year winner, and a Jazz Journalists Association’s Jazz Hero Award winner, has received high praise for her vocal prowess.
