About this Event

Ethics and Law in Clinical Supervision for Mental Health Professionals (3 Ethics CEs)

Clinical Supervision is an increasingly important area in mental health. In this course, we aim to tackle the common issues and obstacles that come with clinical supervision in mental health and social services settings. Our goal is to help practitioners feel more confident and secure when facing legal, ethical, and risk-management concerns related to clinical supervision. We explore the roles and responsibilities of both the supervisor and supervisee, as well as techniques that minimize risk and improve performance.

In this course, we will target the following objectives:

  • discuss the components of competent and effective supervision, including myths and misconceptions;
  • compare administrative supervision to clinical supervision and differentiate between various models of supervision;
  • identify the characteristics of individual supervision, group supervision, team supervision, consultation, and other formats;
  • review ethical and legal issues in clinical supervision;
  • evaluate risk management strategies that can help supervisors minimize liability and
  • describe the steps for providing an impartial, objective, and accurate evaluation of supervisees.
