About this Event
This workshop introduces erasure poetry—a practice of discovering hidden messages by removing words from existing text. It's a powerful ritual for breaking through creative blocks and revealing unexpected insights. In our two-hour session, we'll move between collective and individual creation. After a brief meditation, we'll create a communal poem through circulation—each person marking one word before passing the page along. This process shows how contributing to others' work can ignite our own creativity.
Participants will then craft personal erasure poems using various text selections. This practice shows how creativity often emerges not from filling blank space, but from revealing what already exists beneath the surface—perfect for when we feel creatively stuck.
The workshop begins and ends with intentional rituals that participants can adapt for their own creative practice at home. No previous art or writing experience needed. All materials provided.
About Breena:
Breena Fain is an artist, writer, and ritual keeper in San Francisco. Her practice combines art-making with ritual design to navigate life's transitions. Drawing from her background in hypnosis, meditation, and end-of-life care, she creates intimate spaces where others can explore their own edges through creativity.
Breena's work explores channels to the metaphysical world, honoring both subtle and tangible elements of transformation. Her approach has been shaped by personal experience with breast cancer at 35, which taught her how art and ritual can crack open necessary conversations and ease isolation. Through workshops, ceramic creation, and writing, she makes space for honest, unrushed encounters with ourselves. You can learn more about her work at breenafain.com.
