About this Event

Description:

Emotions can feel good. They can also hit us hard and overwhelm us. New research indicates that emotions are created in the moment by our experiences and that we can adjust our emotions, and patterns of behavior, by adjusting our internal and external experiences. We will talk about emotions, their function, and how they are created. We will talk about how our experiences in the world (community, gender, cultural) can impact our emotions. Finally, we will also discuss and practice a variety of ways we can strengthen our ability to hold these emotions and to build our tolerance for the big ones.

Objectives:

As result of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Describe how emotions are created.
  • Describe how family, community, gender, and culture can shape our emotions and behavior.
  • Explain how to do three to five practices that help you regulate.
