About this Event
This Emergency First Aid at Work (EFAW) training course provides learners with the essential knowledge and practical skills required to respond confidently and effectively to workplace emergencies. The course is designed to meet HSE requirements and supports staff to act quickly, safely, and appropriately when faced with an injury or sudden illness.
Through practical demonstrations, hands-on practice, and real-life scenarios, participants will learn how to assess an incident, provide immediate first aid, and seek further support when required. The training promotes calm decision-making, confidence, and safe practice in line with current guidance.
Bespoke delivery and workplace-specific scenarios can be incorporated on request.

1. The Role of the Emergency First Aider
- Responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Assessing incidents and prioritising actions
- Personal safety and infection prevention
2. Assessing an Emergency
- Primary survey (DRABC)
- Recognising life-threatening conditions
- Calling for emergency assistance
3. CPR & Use of an AED
- Adult CPR
- Safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Managing an unconscious casualty
4. Choking
- Recognising choking
- Appropriate first aid responses
- Aftercare and escalation
5. Wounds & Bleeding
- Controlling bleeding
- Treating minor and severe wounds
- Shock recognition and management
6. Burns & Scalds
- Causes and severity
- Immediate first aid treatment
