About this Event
This 3-day First Aid at Work (FAW) training course provides learners with comprehensive first aid knowledge and practical skills to respond confidently and effectively to a wide range of workplace emergencies. The course meets the requirements of the Health and Safety (First-Aid) Regulations 1981 and is delivered in line with FAIB and FOFAO standards.
Through a combination of theory, hands-on practice, and realistic scenarios, participants will develop the competence required to manage serious injuries and illnesses, provide life-saving first aid, and support casualties until professional help arrives. The training promotes calm decision-making, safe practice, and confidence in emergency situations across a variety of workplace settings.

1. The Role of the First Aider
- Responsibilities of a workplace first aider
- Legal duties and professional boundaries
- Incident assessment and personal safety
2. Assessing an Emergency
- Primary and secondary surveys
- Managing the scene safely
- Calling and handing over to emergency services
3. CPR & Use of an AED
- Adult CPR
- Safe and effective use of an Automated External Defibrillator (AED)
- Managing an unconscious casualty
- Recovery position
4. Choking
- Recognition of choking
- Appropriate first aid responses
- Aftercare and monitoring
5. Wounds, Bleeding & Shock
- Controlling severe bleeding
- Treating minor and major wounds
- Recognition and management of shock
6. Burns & Scalds
- Causes and severity
- Immediate first aid treatment
- When to escalate care
7. Fractures, Sprains & Injuries
- Suspected fractures and dislocations
- Soft tissue injuries
- Head, neck, and spinal injury awareness
8. Sudden Illness
- Heart attack and stroke recognition
- Seizures
- Asthma and allergic reactions (including anaphylaxis)
- Diabetes-related emergencies
9. Infection Prevention & Control
- Cross-infection risks
- Use of personal protective equipment (PPE)

Outcome
On successful completion, participants will receive a First Aid at Work certificate, valid for three years, issued in line with FAIB and FOFAO approval requirements.
