A laboratory for performative interventions at the intersection of drag and bouffon - where boundary pushing cabaret meets radical immersive satirical clown. In this four day workshop, shapeshifters, pedagogues and performers Nancy Nutter and Michelle Madsen will open the can on what it is to distort the norm and to explore and create performance from subversive perspectives and for subversive means.
The sessions will touch on the body as an agent of disruption, the creation of characters and alter egos, the disruption of space, society and the city and the decolonisation of satire.
The workshop will take place at Spreefeld studios in Kreuzberg and in the city on:
Wed Nov 13: 11am-4pm
Thu Nov 14: 11am -5pm
Fri Nov 15: 11am -5pm
Sat Nov 16: 2pm-6pm
Fee: Eur250 (low income) Eur300 (high income) sliding scale.
Please send a short email expressing your interest to [email protected].
We welcome applications from all bodies and all levels of experience in drag and performance. We encourage those who are curious but have no idea what drag or bouffon are about to come along and see what happens.
The price of the workshop represents payment for the space and the facilitators time and we are offering 3 full (free) bursary places for people who would like to take part but whose current/historical social/financial situation means that they would be unable to attend without this support.
Please write short paragraph explaining your need of a bursary place when you email your application. The deadline for bursary applications is November 7th. We offer a sliding scale of prices from support to solidarity for low- high income participants. If you do not feel that your need is enough for a bursary place but would not be able to attend at the fee levels above, please get in contact - we can have a chat.
