About this Event
Elodie is a jazz and Brazilian music singer from Aix-en-Provence in the south of France. Her love of nature and mountains led her to settle in Scotland in 2020.
She began her musical training in classical singing at the Conservatoire of Music in Marseille, where she developed a strong foundation in vocal technique. She soon found herself drawn to jazz, a style she was introduced to at an early age by her paternal grandfather, a pianist and conductor. She immersed herself in the exploration of jazz standards, harmony, rhythm and improvisation through classes and workshops in Marseille and Paris. She found great joy in shaping and evolving her interpretations, as well as in developing her vocal identity by exploring the nuances of her range.
Along the way, she discovered Brazilian music and was deeply moved and captivated by its sublime melodies, poetic lyrics, and sensual, syncopated rhythms. Through bossa nova, samba, choro and forró, she developed a particular affinity for the genre, finding in it a blend of softness, nostalgia, passion, joy, lightness and depth that further stimulated her sensitivity and enriched her expressiveness.
Her repertoire reflects the diversity of these influences. For her performance on 4 June, she will be accompanied by two brilliant, creative and acclaimed musicians from the Scottish jazz scene: Timmy Allan on guitar and Allon Beauvoisin on tenor and soprano saxophones.
