London-based trumpeter Ed Hogben presents his debut headline performance with a dynamic new fusion band.
Pushing the boundaries of the instrument, Ed uses a MIDI harmoniser to perform chords in real time—expanding the trumpet’s role beyond melody into harmony and texture. This innovative approach allows him to occupy the space of a piano or guitar within a band setting, opening up a distinctive and forward-thinking sound.
He has developed the harmoniser into a fully improvisational tool, exploring musical territory rarely attempted on trumpet. His work has already gained attention online, resonating with audiences across the jazz community and beyond.
