About this Event
The theme of this year’s Earth Day is "Our Power, Our Planet" and we will be exploring this through the following workshops:
Astro-activism: Personal Astrology for Collective Care with Hayley Ku'unani:
Astro-activism is exploring activism through an astrological lens. As activism comes in many different forms, this workshop will explore themes of showing up sustainably on a personal level that can be expressed for collective and environmental benefit.
This workshop will show us how to interpret our birth chart to find our sustainable form of activism that works with us. Even if astrology is not a point of interest, this talk invites us to share and generate ideas in ways we can impact and give back.
Hosted by Hayley Ku'unani: sound therapist / artist-producer specialising in astromusicology to demystify the power of sound and stars for existential enrichment. Her approach to wellness is rooted in personal responsibility, active listening and self-inquiry to inspire greater understanding through a decolonised lens.
Exploring Ancestry: Collaging Workshop with Madina:
What does ancestry mean to you? Join us for a creative workshop where we will explore our understanding of ancestry through collaging. All materials will be provided!
Whether you have deep knowledge of your ancestry, or are exploring it for the first time, this workshop is a chance to reflect, learn new perspectives, and share your stories in a collective space. The workshop will combine group discussions with creative collaging to explores different aspects of ancestry.
This workshop is hosted by Madina, a researcher and community organiser working at the intersection of science, health and social justice. Her practice revolves around a central question. How can we learn together, and act together to build more just and liberatory futures? She has channelled this question into creating spaces for storytelling, community building, and activism.
By attending you will be helping to support families affected by the recent, devastating flooding in O‘ahu - the worst in 20 years - causing approximately $1bn in total damages.
Suggested donation to secure your place is £10 but any amount that you're able to give will go a long way.
All materials will be provided and refreshments will be available to enjoy alongside these workshops, as well as some houseplants for sale to raise additional funds!
