30 years of the ‘Agenda of the Agresiv Dislecksick’
A performance and talk by Benedict Phillips
“Colin* published Benedict’s seminal manifesto - in DAIL magazine (Disability Arts in London) back in September 1995. The work marked the beginnings of Disability Arts having a focus on the barriers faced by the neurodiverse community, before the term was coined.”
A Short performance which will include the first public reading of the Agenda of the Agresiv Dislecksick’ in over 30 years. Followed on by a Talk where Benedict will tell the story of his neuro affirmative art practice and how he has directly confronted his own neurodivergent characteristics within his art for more than 35 years. The talk will explore the concepts and ideas behind such works as ‘A Benedictionary’ the world's first and only Leksick to Dislecksick translation dictionary, his alter ego The DIV and will highlights his A-to-Z of Neurodivergent ideas an evolving series of 26 provocations to the Neurotypical world.
His work has been produced through a wide variety of approaches centring around photography, sculpture and performance, he is also a published poet and has undertaken major public art commissions. And is currently exploring ways to make the Art Dyslexia Trust archive (that he rescued from destruction in 2025) into a resource to inspire and support neurodivergent artists through his “neurodiversity Arts Project”.
