The Diasporic Vietnamese Artists Network (DVAN) proudly presents Storytellers & Activists – the latest installment of our quarterly reading series in partnership with the San Francisco Public Library.
Our first reading and panel discussion of 2026 will take place at The Ruby in San Francisco's Mission District. As a safe space for transfemme, women, and nonbinary folks, The Ruby doesn't share their address publicly. Please RSVP via Eventbrite for the exact location and help us keep it a sanctuary by not sharing the address with those not registered to this event.

ABOUT THE READERS & PANELISTS
was born in Manila, Philippines and raised in the San Francisco Bay Area. She is the author of Letters to a Young Brown Girl, Invocation to Daughters, and others. Daughtersong Diaspore is forthcoming.
is Associate Professor in Cinema and Media Studies at the University of Southern California. Her poetry has appeared in the journals Oberon and Spoon River Review and the anthologies Watermark: Vietnamese American Poetry and Prose and Tilting the Continent: Southeast Asian American Writing. Her debut collection of poetry, Nothing Follows, was published by Texas Tech UP in 2023. She was awarded residencies at Djerassi, Millay, Hedgebrook, and Vashon.
ABOUT THE MODERATOR
is an interdisciplinary artist, scholar, and educator in the Bay Area. Her mother is a Cham-Polish refugee from Việt Nam. Her work has been anthologized in “Troubling Borders: An Anthology of Art and Literature by Southeast Asian Women in the Diaspora," "Inheriting the War: Poetry and Prose by Descendants of Vietnam Veterans and Refugees," and "BOMB" magazine. She has an MA in Ethnic Studies from UC Berkeley. She is a Senior Adjunct Lecturer at California College of the Arts. IG: @jthiunderhill

A collaboration between DVAN and the San Francisco Public Library, this quarterly reading series has spotlighted Vietnamese and Southeast Asian diasporic writers and poets since 2024. Featuring both established and emerging voices, this program celebrates cultural heritage through powerful works that explore personal narratives, historical contexts, and the diverse identities shaping Southeast Asian artists today.
