Driehaus Summer Business Institute (Week 4) Economics OR Hospitality

The Driehaus College of Business welcomes high school students to participate in the Driehaus Summer Institute, a program that immerses students in the foundations of business.

As a cohort-based program, students will either be enrolled in Economics OR Hospitality track and will remain in that track throughout the week.

For the Economics track: "Everyday Economics: Your World Explained" Have you ever wondered how decisions are made about money, resources, and opportunity? In this course, you'll dive into the fascinating world of economics, where choices shape everything from your own decisions to global markets. Through fun, real-life examples, games, and hands-on activities, you'll explore the hidden forces driving the economy—both at home and around the world. Discover how businesses and governments make decisions, and learn how you, too, can think like an economist to navigate everyday life. By the end, you’ll see how economics is not just about money but about understanding people and making better decisions!

For the Hospitality track: "The Global Business of Sports, Travel and Hospitality" This course introduces students to the global business of the tourism, hospitality and sports industries, including current trends and future career opportunities. Students will be exposed to many industry scenarios in travel, hospitality and sports business. This will include guest speakers and field trips around the great tourism, hospitality and sports city of Chicago!
