About this Event
The illustration industry runs on relationships. Here’s how we’re building them…
Most creative opportunities don’t start with a job listing, they start with a conversation.
That’s why we’re bringing illustrator Dan Thompson to Drawn In Manchester for a special evening exploring how creative connections actually shape a career.
After moving from Ireland to the UK, Dan had to build his creative network from scratch - something many illustrators and freelancers face.Over the past 12+ years he’s gone on to work across branding, illustration and creative direction, and now leads creative work at Holdens, helping start-ups and global brands connect with audiences through bold ideas and craft.
On the night he’ll share:
• How he built a creative network in a new city
• Why networking matters more than most creatives realise
• How small conversations lead to unexpected opportunities
Then we’ll put the ideas into practice.Instead of awkward small talk, we’ll bring everyone together for a live portrait session at long tables, where you can draw, chat and meet other creatives in the room.
By the end of the evening you’ll leave with:
• New creative connections
• A sketchbook full of new portraits
• And possibly your next collaborator
Location: Department Campfield, Manchester
Date/time: Thursday 2 April | 7–8:30pm (doors open from 6:30)
Bring a sketchbook if you can (We’ll be drawing together!)
If you're an illustrator, designer, or student looking to meet your next creative community, this is where you’ll find them. See you there!
