CAROLYN ABBS grew up in the UK, but has lived in Australia for almost forty years. Her first collection, The Tiny Museums (UWAP, 2017) was Highly Commended in the Dorothy Hewett Award for an unpublished manuscript. Why She Gave Me the Painting is her second collection. She has collaborated with Elizabeth McClair Roberts on a poetry / photography project: ‘Different Hemispheres’ (Axon: Creative Explorations, 2014. Her poems appear in leading journals and anthologies: Australian Poetry Journal, Anthology of Australian Prose Poetry, Australian Book Review, print, online, and a recording for the ‘States of Poetry Project’ (2016), Axon: Creative Connections, Best Australian Poems 2014, Cordite Poetry Review, Cuttlefish, Meniscus, play: an anthology of microlit, Rabbit, Westerly, and other places. She holds a Ph.D from Murdoch University where she taught in the School of Arts for a number of years. She has been a featured guest poet at Perth Poetry Club, Voicebox, and reads at local poetry events. Carolyn appeared at the Perth Writers Festival in 2018.
ANDREW LANSDOWN is an Australian writer whose poems, stories and essays have appeared in more than 70 magazines and newspapers and are represented in over 100 anthologies. His book publications include 3 novels, 2 short story collections, 2 photography-and-poetry collections, 2 children’s poetry collections and 16 poetry collections. He has won a number of prestigious poetry awards, including the Western Australian Premier’s Award for Poetry (twice) and the Adelaide Festival’s John Bray Poetry Award. He is an adjunct lecturer in creative writing at Sheridan Institute of Higher Education. Details of his books can be found on his website at www.andrewlansdown.com.
