Domestic and Sexual Abuse/EVAWG Symposium
Tuesday 24 March 2026, 9.30am–3.30pm
Stran Business Centre, Stranmillis University College, Belfast
CCEA, the Department of Education, the Department of Justice and The Executive Office have joined forces to host the Domestic and Sexual Abuse/EVAWG Symposium - Healthy Relationships Education as the Cornerstone of Prevention.
This one-day event will bring together school leaders, cross government departments and safeguarding agencies to strengthen understanding of the preventative curriculum and explore how education contributes to wider strategies on domestic and sexual abuse and ending violence against women and girls.
The symposium aims to position school leaders as key agents of change, driving a positive and preventative cultural ethos within their schools. It will provide practical support and best practice examples to help leaders address emerging issues at school level with confidence. The symposium will also serve as a strategic positioning event, laying the groundwork for deeper discussion, development and delivery in the months ahead.
The programme will emphasise the pivotal role of school leadership in embedding a whole school approach to healthy relationships. It will also showcase best practice and practical interventions to support schools in addressing key issues such as respect, consent, sexual violence, abuse and online safety.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
This event is designed for post-primary school leaders, including principals, vice principals and RSE/LLW co-ordinators.
