About this Event
The TAM Blues & Jazz Festival opens with a powerful celebration of the roots of American music, featuring Doc Bowling & His Blues Professors in a special headline performance.
Inspired by the early traditions of blues, folk and country music, Doc Bowling leads his ensemble through songs that helped shape early 20th-century American music. Their acclaimed project Sing The American Songbag draws on the legacy of artists such as Mississippi John Hurt, Leadbelly and Big Bill Broonzy, bringing these timeless songs to life for modern audiences.
With a rich acoustic lineup that can include guitar, violin, saxophone, banjo, accordion and percussion, the band recreates the deep sound world of the blues while adding their own contemporary energy.
Expect an evening of powerful performances, storytelling and musical history featuring classics such as:
• Me and the Devil Blues
• Irene, Good Night
• Midnight Special
• St. James Infirmary Blues
Opening the week-long TAM Blues & Jazz Festival, this special concert sets the stage for a journey through the evolution of blues and jazz — from its early roots to modern British blues, culminating on 4 April with Dana Gillespie and the London Blues Band.
