Join Scottish Canals Heritage Manager, Chris O’Connell, for a gentle, engaging walk uncovering the rich history of Bowling Harbour, the Forth & Clyde Canal, and the area’s remarkable industrial past.
This guided stroll offers a unique opportunity to:
- Explore the stories behind the canal, harbour, shipbuilding, and railways
- Learn how Bowling played a key role in Scotland’s industrial development
- Share your own memories and experiences of the canal and Bowling
Whether you’re a local resident, a history enthusiast, or simply curious about the area, this walk promises an enjoyable and informative look at the landscapes and landmarks that define Bowling.
The walk takes place at 11am and 2pm, starting from Customs House at Bowling Harbour.
The route is along our towpaths which are level and mostly accessible by wheelchair and people with limited mobility.
The walk will last around one hour, including time for stops at points of interest along the route.
There are toilet facilities and car parking available as well as public transport links.
This event is part of Our Stories - West Dunbartonshire Heritage Festival and celebrates 25 years of the Millennium Link project which reopened the Forth & Clyde and Union Canals.
