About this Event
Join us for an exciting culinary journey into the heart of Vietnamese street food as we learn to make Vegan Bánh Giò—a savoury, pyramid-shaped dumpling wrapped in banana leaves!
Bánh Giò is a true delight for the senses, with its silky, melt-in-your-mouth rice flour dough with aromas from the banana leaves! This beloved street food is typically filled with pork, but we’ll craft a delicious plant-based version that’s just as flavourful.
You will learn how to:
- make the rice dough
- make the vegan filling
- wrap the dumplings in banana leaves
- steam them and enjoy them!
We believe in making this experience accessible for everyone, so we offer a sliding scale pricing of 35€-70€. We ask participants to reflect on their income and pay what they can, helping make this class affordable for BIPoC* and low-income earners.
Cultural exchange through cooking is a wonderful act of building more inclusive communities with people you share the city with. A fun expereince for you and your loved ones, as well as a great chance to meet new people!

Vicky Truong will be guiding you through this cooking class. She was born in Australia, but inherited Vietnames, Thai, and Chinese-Teochew cultures from her family.
Her initiative–Pockets of Change–offers DEI&B training through the art of cooking. Here's your chance to enjoy one of her cooking classes without the DEI&B training. She will still touch upon topics of cultural identity, where you all get to share and reflect on yours.
