Come sketch with us this summer solstice Sunday — the longest day of the year, and we’re going to make good use of it!
We’re keeping it simple and fun.
Hop the RTD G Line from Union Station out toward Arvada, sketch three beautiful spots along the way, and meet back at Union Station to share what we made over coffee/lunch.
No pressure, no judging — just a morning of drawing with good people in great places.
The Route:
🚉 10:00 – 10:30 AM — Denver Union Station —
We’ll gather under the iconic “Travel by Train” sign for a quick game plan, and spend 30 minutes sketching the stunning Beaux-Arts architecture or the lively plaza. A perfect warm-up.
🚋 Board the G Line at 10:30 AM — 8 minute ride to 41st & Fox
🚉 10:38 – 11:08 AM — 41st & Fox —
One stop out, a completely different world. Grain silos, the Denver skyline, RiNo street art — this one has character in every direction. A full 30 minutes to find your favorite angle.
🚋 Board the G Line at 11:08 AM — 13 minute ride to Olde Town Arvada
🚉 11:21 AM – 11:51 AM — Olde Town Arvada —
Charming historic storefronts, flower planters, summer light on Grandview Avenue. One of the most sketch-friendly streets in the metro. 30 minutes to soak it in.
🚋 Board the G Line at 11:51 AM — 21 minute ride back to Union Station
🚉 12:12 – 12:30 PM — Throwdown at Union Station —
We’ll spread our sketchbooks out, share what we made, and enjoy the simple joy of seeing three totally different places through everyone’s eyes.

This is definitely experimental for our group, so start time may be a little more important for this event. May want to plan on 9:45am to make sure you find parking or just get to our start location.
A note on the train: The G Line runs approximately every 15 minutes, so keep an eye on the clock at each stop — if you miss a departure, the next one is just 15 minutes away and you can still make it work.
RTD’s trip planner and the free RTD MyRide app both show live arrivals so you always know what’s coming.

The Details:
Cost: Just $2.75 per person for a 3-Hour RTD pass — covers every ride. Pick one up at any ticket machine at Union Station.
Parking:
• 41st/Fox Park-n-Ride (free) — Park here and ride one stop into Union Station. Easiest option.
• Union Station garage (1701 Wynkoop St) — Paid, roughly $10–15 for the morning.
• We chose SUNDAY because free street parking in the surrounding Lo-Hi blocks — Free and usually available, short walk to the station.
What to bring: Your sketchbook and your favorite tools. A small folding stool if you have one — platform stops are light on seating. And a willingness to enjoy the morning.
All skill levels welcome. Come as you are.
