The Denver Rose Society's annual Rose Show returns to Denver Botanic Gardens on Sunday, June 21. This year's theme is Stars and Stripes: Red, White and Bloom — a fitting frame for a show that's been part of Denver summers for nearly eight decades.What is it?
The Rose Show is a judged exhibition where Front Range gardeners bring roses they've grown themselves to be evaluated by certified rosarians. Cut blooms, arrangements, and rose photography all compete in their own categories. Hundreds of entries fill Gates & Mitchell Halls, and ribbons and awards are presented at the end of the afternoon.
When can I come?
Public viewing runs from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m. Awards are announced at the end of the afternoon. Entries are dropped off and judged earlier in the day; by 1, the show is set and ready.
Do I need a ticket or RSVP?
No. The Rose Show is free and open to everyone — included with regular Denver Botanic Gardens admission. You don't need to be a Society member, and you don't need to know anything about roses to enjoy the afternoon.
Where exactly is it?
The show is held in Gates and Mitchell Halls at Denver Botanic Gardens, 1007 York Street, Denver. Parking is available in the Gardens' garage on York Street.
Can I enter a rose?
Yes — entries are open to the public, not just Society members. Roses must be brought in for tagging and registration during the early morning setup window (roughly 6:30 to 9:30 a.m.).
