His teachers have included Clem Alford (the first ever European sitar player),Pandit Subroto Roychowdhury of Senia Gharana and Wajahat Khan (direct descendent of MiaTansen the great musician, one of the nine jewels in Moghul court of Emperor Akbar).Tamil-British singerAshnaa Sasikaranemerges from a Carnatic background, which has stronglyinfluenced her style. She is an upcoming independent artist, passionate about experimenting with awide range of musical genres to see what new sounds shecan bring to the music industry.In 2022, Ashnaa sang for the well-renowned music director Dimman for the movie "PoikkalKuthirai". She then went on to tour as the leading Singer/Actor role for the theatre production"Orpheus" by Opera North in collaboration with South Asian Arts. In 2021, she collaborated withthe virtuoso Sarod player, composer and producer Soumik Datta, on a powerful project called“Silent Spaces”, including the renowned cellist Matthew Barley.
