DCAF and Burger Sounds are excited to announce the official launch party to kick off the third annual My Body My Festival featuring Pretty Bitter, Cherub Tree, Flowerbomb and Massie. As always, ticket proceeds go directly to DCAF to fund abortion!
The DC Abortion Fund (DCAF) is one of the largest abortion funds in the U.S., supporting abortion seekers from DC and across the country. With zero eligibility requirements, connections to multiple area clinics, and a relentlessly supportive community behind us, we make abortion access happen for thousands every year.

Pretty Bitter is an indie dreamo band based in DC. Initially bonding over shared musical touchpoints, they quickly began building their sound and audience by offering a cathartic and energizing live experience. During the lockdown period of 2020-22, they released their debut album, Hinges, entirely self-produced via remote collaboration. Pretty Bitter's current lineup began playing shows in the DC area and developing an audience for their easy to love blend of lush synth pop and emo-adjacent indie rock. The sound of Hinges is impressively glitzy and cinematic for its low budget; while also highlighting the strong undercurrent of emo influence that propels these tight, smartly written pop songs.
In 2024, Pretty Bitter partnered with Evan Weiss & Simon Small to record a split EP with DC darlings Flowerbomb as well as their upcoming second record, 'pleaser,' set to release in 2025.
In their DNA, you could pick out a wide variety of influences, but it hasn’t taken long for them to synthesize those influences into something distinctly Pretty Bitter.

Based out of Washington D.C., acclaimed Riot Grrrl band Cherub Tree paves a new road in the punk and indie scene with their eclectic musical style.
Shortly after releasing their DIY EP "where are your manners" , Cherub Tree founders Brenna Lea and Ryan Shakeri (now with support from Naomi Seat and Sam Elliott) released their long-awaited single "not yours, never was - Anthem Edition"; a Riot-Grrrl anthem inspired by the overturning of Roe v Wade in 2022. Delving deep into their Punk Rock, 90’s Grunge, and Riot-Grrrl influences, Cherub Tree’s new sound has received heavy accolades and praise, leading them to two separate 2024 Washington DC Music Awards for ‘Best Punk Song’ and ‘Best Punk Artist’.
Cherub Tree released their newest single “MADONNA” in late 2024 and celebrated this single release at the historic Washington DC venue, The Black Cat. Continuing to address the issues of women’s rights, patriarchy, and sexuality, “MADONNA” digs even deeper on the heavier tones, colors, and emotions that makes Cherub Tree so unique in their landscape.
Cherub Tree is also currently working with Producer and Engineer, Reese Clutter, on their debut album to be released in 2025.

Flowerbomb is an alternative indie band from Washington DC featuring lead songwriter and vocalist Rachel Kline, drummer and producer Dan ABH, guitarist Connor White, and bassist and vocalist Abby Rasheed. With accolades from local outlets like the Wammies DC, (winning Best Rock Song and Best Rock Band, in 2023 and 2024) Flowerbomb has become a staple of their scene, winning over fans with the raw observational lyricism of Kline’s songwriting and the palpable joy and camaraderie of their live performances.

Following the release of their debut 2020 LP pretty dark, the band returned in 2024 to release volumes 1 and 2 of their Gloom Scroll series, the first volume channeling more fuzzed out alt rock and the latter focusing on the dreamier side of Kline’s songwriting. Following in the footsteps of indie bands like Hop Along, Soccer Mommy, and Japanese Breakfast, Flowerbomb’s commitment to clever songwriting, their unique alternative sound, and their gut-punch relatable lyrics align them with some of the biggest names in the movement of independent women and queer artists. They’ve put their “hand to the plow,” and they till the soil of your heart, so that out of life’s darker realities, flowers are promised to bloom.
