Learn 4 useful mindfulness skills from DBT that will help you stay grounded in times of dissociation or distress
About this Event

Many folks who come to DBT for healing deal with bouts of distress or dissociation (a way of coping with distress that takes us away from ourselves, our bodies, and our emotions). Mindfulness exercises focused on grounding are both a great way to come back from dissociation and to get through distress without dissociating. The skills we'll teach you will help you stay in your body and find a moment of peace, or as close as can be managed.

Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) is an evidence-based type of Cognitive Behavior Therapy (CBT) combined with Zen Buddhism that helps students identify negative thinking patterns and gain healthy coping skills. The goal of DBT is to find the middle path, decrease intense emotions, improve interpersonal relationships, and learn effective coping skills for difficult times.

Join Alicia Paz and Kat Schultz from Online DBT Skills to learn 4 DBT skills from the Mindfulness module in lecture format, followed by a brief Q & A. Skills that will be taught: a breathing exercise, 54321, body scan, progressive muscle relaxation.

In August 2020, Alicia expanded her DBT offerings by launching a community DBT platform that adds live group sessions to the courses and skills coaching. When not pouring her heart and soul into her work, Alicia enjoys spending time with her children and dog.
