The Pamela Trokanski Dance Theatre invites the community to join them for this year's Davis Dance Project Concert: Dance & the Art of Living IRL, (in real life) which will explore the wonderful nature of dance in keeping a person present in the moment, and the effect that has on our brains, our sense of being, and our ability to connect with others. Joining the PTDT are the PTDT Apprentice Company, Light Ballet Company, and The Third Stage. Known for work that integrates a strong sense of athleticism and technical training with idiosyncratic movements and a diverse range of movers, including dancers ranging in age from 10 to 90+, this is not your average dance performance!
The concert begins with a lecture-demonstration by Pamela and dancers from the resident companies.
To show the audience how these ideas play out across different technical and cultural styles, the lecture-demo will be followed by dance performances from the PTDT companies, and special guests: Devi Varma (Bharatanatyam), Davis Red Maple Cultural Connection (Chinese Cultural Dance), and SoNE1 (UC Davis’ K-pop dance group).
Tickets:
• FREE for kids 12 and under (must be accompanied by an adult)
• $10 General Admission (everyone over age 12)
The Davis Dance Project will take place on Saturday, March 7 @ 6pm and Sunday, March 8 at 2pm.
All performances will take place at the Louise H. Kellogg Memorial Theatre, located at the Pamela Trokanski Dance Workshop, 2720 Del Rio Place in Davis, CA.
