About this Event
Join the LGBTQ+ Film Club for a 50th anniversary screening of David is homosexual (1976), a film made by the Campaign for Homosexual Equality. Filming took place in South-East London, especially Lewisham and Lee, and captures images of gay life in the mid-1970s.
The screening will be introduced by Ray Crossley, partner of director Wilf Avery. It will be followed by Peter Scott-Presland in conversation with Professor Rainer Schulze about the LGBTQ+ rights struggle of the ‘60s and ’70s. Peter is the author of The Best of Enemies, the forthcoming book about the Campaign for Homosexual Equality and the Gay Liberation Front. Exclusive copies will be available for purchase and signing at the event.
Canada Water Library's LGBTQ+ Film Club screen a different free film on the first Friday of the month, in Canada Water Theatre on the ground floor of the library. All are welcome to attend, no pre-booking necessary.
Free refreshments will be available.
