Meet the Duo
Dani Sicari and James Girling of the renowned jazz septet The Easy Rollers, bring an intimate take on the band’s signature sound in this stripped-back duo. Inspired by the iconic Ella Fitzgerald & Joe Pass collaborations, they explore the rich interplay between voice and guitar, blending the energy of the Jazz Age with their own unique artistry.
Both classically trained at the Royal Northern College of Music, Dani and James live between the classical and jazz worlds. When not in the concert hall, they are often found at jazz festivals. Dani, an accomplished Soprano, performs extensively in opera, chamber music, and new works, while James, a versatile guitarist, balances his time between classical projects, his acclaimed Meraki Duo, and the 11-piece afrobeat band Agbeko.
The Easy Rollers have long established a reputation for delivering performances that channel the in-the-moment dynamism of the Jazz Age at the height of its cultural grandeur. Arising from their love of the tradition, they take pride in marrying a conscientious approach to authenticity with their mission of ensuring that this effervescent era of jazz is never presented merely as a nostalgic museum piece.
The band cut their teeth performing stages including Manchester Jazz Festival, Cheltenham Jazz Festival, Lake District Summer Music Festival, Buxton International Festival, Brecon Jazz Festival, Marsden Jazz Festival, and the Edinburgh Festival Fringe in the band’s formative years. The Easy Rollers’ latest UK tour encompassed RNCM Concert Hall, Liverpool Philharmonic Music Room, Cedars Hall, Clonter Theatre, and jazz clubs Peggy's Skylight and Toulouse Lautrec.
The Easy Rollers' latest album '...And Another Thing' is available on all streaming platforms. It includes arrangements of songs from the jazz age along with band originals inspired by this time. To find out more about their album, head to www.theasyrollers.co.uk
