About this Event
This workshop is designed for cyclists who want to ride stronger, longer, and with fewer setbacks—whether you’re training for races, long gravel events, fondos, or simply trying to stay pain-free while increasing output.
At Cincinnati Spine & Sport, we see the same pattern repeatedly:
cyclists chase power, volume, and intensity without addressing position, tissue capacity, and movement control. The result? Persistent pain, plateaus, and preventable injuries.
This workshop bridges the gap between performance and durability, giving you a clear framework for building power while protecting your body.
What You’ll Learn
- Why common cycling injuries occur—even in well-trained athletes
- How bike position influences power output and injury risk
- The relationship between mobility, stability, and sustained wattage
- How to identify early warning signs before pain becomes injury
- Practical strategies to improve efficiency without sacrificing comfort
Featured Bike Fit Lecture
Eric Peters – Erg Cycling
A major component of the workshop includes a bike fit and positioning lecture led by Eric Smith of Erg Cycling.
Eric began racing mountain bikes in the late 1990s and quickly expanded into road, criterium, and cyclocross racing. While he no longer races with the same intensity as in his 20s and 30s, he continues to line up regularly across multiple disciplines—ensuring his fitting philosophy reflects real racing demands, not static theory.
(Yes—cyclocross and road positions should be different.)
Eric holds degrees in Exercise Science (AAS) and Physical Therapy (PTA, Lic. #07628) and brings a rare blend of:
- Competitive racing experience
- Strength & conditioning knowledge
- Biomechanics and movement science
- Deep mechanical understanding of the bicycle
Through years of work in sports and orthopedic physical therapy, Eric has treated injuries from head to toe, with particular expertise in:
- Low back and hip conditions
- Foot and ankle biomechanics
- Cleat, shoe, and foot positioning as it relates to power transfer and injury prevention
With Erg Cycling, Eric combines clinical insight with hands-on bike experience to help riders find positions that are powerful, sustainable, and specific to their riding style.
