Join us for this incredible evening of adventure and cycle touring activism. There will be two talks and an acoustic music set. Talk 1: Bristol to India
In 2019, journalist Jess Connett rode from Bristol to India. Jess will tell stories about the wildest – and most beautiful – parts of her trip through Central Asia: drinking vodka with truckers on the Caspian Sea, and cycling hundreds of miles in a straight line through the empty Kazakh steppe. Jess shares her story for the first time.
Talk 2: - ‘Cycling, Philosophy and Activism.’
Jet McDonald is a writer, musician and psychiatrist. In 2010 he cycled from Bristol to India. He based his book Mind is the Ride on this journey and a parallel adventure from Western to Eastern philosophy. In 2021 he cycled from Bristol to the Glasgow COP 26 towing a block of ice. Jet will be speaking about what cycling can tell us about our experience of being in the world and how that experience can help us change the world for the better.
Music :
Martin Callingham is a Bristol based alternative folk musician, whose music has been described as; "A sublime stream of complete and utter loveliness"
There will also be a raffle, tea + cake and an information stall. Plus the usual Happy World Productions warmth and smiles.
