A practical workshop on cyber violence against women and girls, including hidden harms emerging from the dark web.
About this Event

Cyber violence against women and girls doesn’t stop at social media. Increasingly, some of the most serious harm is enabled through hidden online spaces, including the dark web, where abuse, harassment and exploitation can operate beyond public view.

CyberDIVA is a one-day interactive workshop that explores how cyber violence operates today and how it can be tackled more effectively. The event brings together researchers, practitioners, law enforcement, policymakers, technologists, advocates and members of the public to look beyond surface-level online harm and examine the systems, networks and methods that allow abuse to persist.

Building on earlier work in this area, CyberDIVA moves the conversation from awareness to action. The workshop focuses on investigation, response and prevention, with a particular emphasis on the role of the dark web and the use of forensic and evidence-led approaches.

Participants will explore:

  • how cyber violence against women and girls manifests across visible platforms and hidden online spaces
  • the methods and networks used to enable gender-based abuse
  • how digital forensics, data analysis and emerging technologies can support detection and investigation
  • the role of policy, regulation and institutional responsibility in responding to online harm
  • practical approaches to safeguarding, prevention and support

The day will include expert talks, panel discussion, creative and interactive elements, and opportunities for discussion and networking. Sessions are designed to be accessible to non-technical audiences, while still offering depth and relevance for professionals working in cyber security, policing, education, policy and advocacy.
