Cutting Borders - 1st Edition: 19:00
Acid Arab, Aly Mrabet, Benboo, Hiba Salameh, Sofiia B2B Mnfique
Cutting Borders is a concept shaped by the shared vision of Cafi Chanta and Tunis Nouveau Club (TNVCLB), created out of a desire to explore how electronic music can connect communities, identities, and artistic languages. The project treats the club as a cultural meeting point; a space where sound travels freely across
influences, where heritage and experimentation coexist, and where dancers are invited into an environment defined by openness and genuine exchange.
Cutting Borders moves beyond the idea of genres or borders as limits, focusing instead on what emerges when different scenes, histories, and perspectives come together without hierarchy.
For its First Edition, Cutting Borders brings forward a lineup that reflects this ethos, led by Acid Arab, the night’s highlight and a defining force in transcultural electronic
music. Formed over a decade ago within Paris’s multicultural creative networks, the French-Algerian collective has developed a sound that blends the precision of Western electronic production with melodic and rhythmic traditions from North Africa
and the Middle East. What began as a curiosity and a collaborative impulse has evolved into a fully realised musical identity: raw, driving, emotional, and instantly recognisable. Their work is built on deep respect for the cultures they engage with, shaped through years of travel, research, and partnerships with vocalists and musicians across the Mediterranean. Their most recent album, Trois, expands their
sonic universe even further, combining club weight with sophisticated instrumentation and voices from Syria, Turkey, and the Maghreb. On stage, Acid Arab deliver a powerful, high-energy experience that speaks directly to the body
while carrying the weight of cultural storytelling — making them the ideal focal point for the first edition of Cutting Borders.
Aly Mrabet, a central figure in Tunisia’s contemporary electronic landscape, brings a multidisciplinary approach built on community work, artistic direction, and musical experimentation. His sets weave modern club aesthetics with Tunisian sonic
textures, moving between hypnotic grooves and reflective atmospheres with intention and depth.
BenBoo, the duo of Bouthaina Nabouli and Benjemy, bridges powerful Arab vocals with percussive electronic production. Their music creates a live dialogue between
classical repertoire and contemporary rhythm structures, resulting in sets that feel intimate, bold, and emotionally charged.
From Haifa, Hiba Salameh contributes a sound rooted in Arabic musical heritage and expanded through global southern influences. Her selections move confidently
between softness and intensity, navigating emotional terrain with a style that resists borders while remaining deeply personal.
Opening the night, Sofiia Zoloto and Mnfique bring a warm, inviting b2b that blends hypnotic acid touches with bright electro and playful house elements. Their natural chemistry behind the decks sets the tone for the night’s unfolding narrative. Cutting Borders is designed for dancers who value respect, curiosity, and a sense of presence. It is a night shaped by listening as much as dancing, a space where different sonic identities can meet without being simplified, and where the dance floor becomes a point of connection rather than division.
The First Edition sets the tone for what Cutting Borders will grow into.
