A weekend workshop on culture, identity, and therapy, exploring power, migration, and how culture shapes mental health and practice.About this Event
About the workshop
This workshop offers a reflective, practice-focused exploration of culture, ethnicity, and identity in therapeutic work. It considers how cultural experience shapes mental health, relationships, and sense of self.
The workshop will look at the development of ethnic identity and its impact on well-being, and at how culture can influence communication, coping, and help-seeking. It will also consider the impact of migration, acculturation, and marginalisation, and how these experiences may find their way into the therapeutic space.
There will be space to think about power and difference, including the practitioner’s own cultural positioning, and how these can shape both therapeutic and professional relationships.
The workshop is intended to support more considered and culturally aware ways of listening, formulating, and working.
