About this Event
We recognise that there aren’t enough low-cost, supportive spaces for black, brown and global majority artists to meet each other and nourish their practices. This event series seeks to create a regular opportunity to gather and think about artists’ collective and individual needs.
At each event a different artist or arts worker offers an insight into their practice with a low-key workshop - whether through movement, poetry, or discussion. The workshop at our second event will be held by Natasha 'Coco' Lee, see more info below. There will also be open time for socialising, with free food and a donation bar.
These events are open to anyone who considers themselves an artist, performer, or maker - whether professional, aspiring or hobbyist. They are specifically held for people who experience racism, and staffed by people with those lived experiences.

How much does it cost?
Tickets are pay what you feel, from £3 - £7, as a small contribution towards the cost of running the event. Thank you to those who select a higher ticket price - you are supporting others who are financially disadvantaged to attend.
Where is it taking place?
CDS and Poplar Union are partnering to co-curate and deliver this project, connecting our East London artist communities, and alternating between our venues. The May event will take place at CDS, and we’ll be at Poplar Union in July.
Accessibility
Please note, we are on the second floor of a warehouse building, accessed by a staircase only. We regret that we cannot currently adequately support wheelchair users and those for whom stairs are a barrier.
There will be a separate quiet space available on site.
All workshops are designed with a range of access needs and learning styles in mind. If you would like to discuss your access requirements, or you would like to be considered to lead a future event, please get in touch with CDS staff member Jasmine Andrews: jasmine@chisenhaledancespace.co.uk
