Saturday night’s RSO main floor features co-curation with Ghana’s Oroko Radio. Operating as a not-for-profit project, Oroko frames its programming around collaboration and community building, broadcasting that braids local Accra scenes with global diasporic flows.
Boutcha Bwa brings the thundering pulse at the cutting edge of Caribbean shatta and bouyon. Hymnographers to dance and sex in all its forms, they make those subs strut with a sassy flex. Mauritius-based producer tripes draws on the polyrhythms of the Indian Ocean, bringing elements of traditional Sega and Maloya together with pulses of Angolan kuduro, Moroccan gnawa and South-Indian percussion traditions, all bolstered with sharp hits, shifting meters, shattered effects and sleek digi-textures.
Tanzanian MC and performer Anti Vairas is fast becoming one of the biggest faces in singeli, blending frenetic 200–300 BPM beats with rapid-fire Kiswahili. Joining her, Jay Mitta’s productions have a layered personality, varied in tempo and texture with moments that flirt with swung rhythms and fleeting dubbage, alive with subtlety.
Batu has sat at the sharp edge of bass-heavy dance music for over a decade, shaped primarily through his own imprints Timedance and A Long Strange Dream. Reshaping techno and soundsystem language with deliberate focus, he’s guided by evolving concepts and sources of inspiration. Recent releases strip that curiosity back to the core, sharpening the physical charge and immediacy of his dancefloor material.
The Summe floor features curation by the Terminal collective. Founded in Mexico, Terminal has evolved into a translocal network connecting Latin American and global electronic scenes.
DJ Babatr has shaped the relentless fusion of rhythm and rebellion that is raptor house. Hard Techno, tribal, house, and the unmistakable swing of Caracas collide in his sets and productions. Mentored by Babatr, DJ Deep RH has been one of the makers shaping a sound that’s roared from underground parties straight into a global force. Capturing the electricity of the streets, he transmogrifies it into heavy percussion colliding with fiery energy.
Benfika channels sounds rooted in guaracha, tribal house, techno and ’90s trance, sculpting driving rhythms intertwining with melodic textures and emotional undercurrents so it punches out the guts while whipping the psyche into a fine froth. Ruiseñor traces the living currents of the Latin American and Caribbean sound, carrying echoes of cumbia, salsa, reggaetón, dembow, and pre-Hispanic percussion into dialogue with the kinetic languages of techno, house, trance and bass music.
Ambient atmospheres, intricate percussion, broken beats and techno pulse within Viiaan’s work, utilizing field recordings, dark ambient textures and dancefloor energy in a carefully calibrated mix. Her sets and productions conjure mythic imagery of water, night and memory converging within the contours of the brain.
